Packaging Shredder

The purpose of the SM3 shredder is to shred compostable food packaging into small pieces so, when added to any of the Oklin food waste composting machines, the packaging can break down quickly into nutrient rich compost.

As a safety feature the SM3 shredder is loaded from the top, making it impossible for your hands to come anywhere near the workings of the machine, and an adjustable mirror allows you to visually check inside the shredding chamber. Stainless carbon steel rotating blades shred the food packaging into 10-20mm pieces, which are then sucked into a collection bag by a powerful fan. A filter bag collects the packaging dust which can also be processed through the composting machine.

It is important to compost food waste with the shredded compostable packaging and we recommend the volume of packaging to be no more than 40% of the machine’s daily input capacity.
