Deodorisers

A deodoriser in an optional extra. Under usual circumstances we would vent the warm, damp air that is extracted from the machine via a PVC pipe, similar to a rain gutter downpipe, to atmosphere or around roof level. If this isn’t feasible, or for locations where there is poor air flow, we can offer a deodoriser or UV filter as a solution.

A standard deodoriser neutralises and reduces odours associated with the composting process by passing the air through a bank of mechanical and carbon filters before it is vented to atmosphere. The deodoriser is connected to the composter’s extraction system and does not require additional power.

The UV filter option is a step up from the standard deodoriser for locations where it is more important that there is no distinguishable smell from the machine e.g., accommodation and public spaces. The filter works by capturing the air and exposing it to UV-C light to neutralise any odours. The UV filter is connected to the composter’s extraction system and requires an additional 13-amp power supply for all models. Unsure if either option is necessary for your application? We will advise and confirm the need for a deodoriser on completion of a site survey.

The actual odour that comes from the composter isn’t the rotting or foul food smell that you’d expect. People are often surprised by the sweet smell, likened to fruit cake or coffee grounds, that isn’t at all unpleasant.

Our process is 100% aerobic and there are no unwanted gases (methane) created during the operation. The outcoming airflow is harmless, regardless of a filter being used or not.
